James Avery, the man who played Will Smith’s uncle in the 90’s sitcom ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ has died at the age of 68.
Several reports say Avery who is popularly known by the name ‘Uncle Phil’
passed away at a hospital in Glendale, California on Wednesday, January
1, 2013. The actor had undergone open heart surgery which turned
unsuccessful.
Reports say his wife Barbara had been at
his bedside all through but left for a short while and when she
returned, found out he had died.
Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett has paid tribute to Avery, writing on Facebook: ‘Our condolences to aunt Florence (his mother), Miss Barbara (his wife) and all those who loved him. Rest in peace James’.
Will Smith is yet to make any comments over the sad news.
