Kim Kardashian announced on twitter minutes ago, that’s she’s on her way to Lagos for Darey’s Love Like a Movie concert. The US star who’s joining Darey to host a fashion red carpet as well as attend a platinum dinner on Sunday, will arrive Lagos tomorrow according to crew members.

Meanwhile, Darey’s reps sent in a video showing the singer, along with Kaffy, Ben Ogbuewi and other crew members paying tribute to colleague Goldie who shockingly passed on on Thursday.

In the brief video tribute recorded on set at Eko Hotel and Suites last night, Darey says the entire Love: Like A Movie crew is sad and shocked by her untimely passing. ‘It’s a feeling of anger and sadness. She’s a close friend and colleague…’

The choice of an Orange Outfit

The choice of orange outfits and accessories is a tricky one and if not properly handled may cause a major fashion mishap. This is because of its edgy and sometimes quirky look which makes it difficult to pull off.
Choosing the pieces require certain important elements including a matching neutrals which may include black, grey or white. Subtle and soft shades can pass for formal looks and darker ones when properly styled can light up an evening gathering.
Off-white and pearly coloured jewelleries work best with the orange outfits. Orange also comes as accessories which include handbags, shoes, belts, brooches and bracelets which can be matched with dark coloured outfits.

It would have been disappointing if drama did not follow her death. Goldie, the unpredictable Goldie is pulling surprises even in death.Just last night, a man believed to be her husband emerged, posting intimate pictures on Facebook, sharing same on her twitter handle, and engaging with several curious fans (he even issued a warning to Prezzo, the man many of us have come to know as the late singer’s bonafide partner).

There were rumours she may have been married or involved with an expatriate, but no one could confirm during her lifetime.

But what was hidden for years tore the lid and came out last night, with the startling revelation by the man whose name is Andrew. Andrew Harvey. So sorry about your loss.

And so sorry to be contacting you under this circumstance. Nigerians are shocked to discover, through your FB post, that Goldie was married. I’m wondering if you’ll able to give me more details, and if we can have your permission to print some of the photos in the folder

‘Memories of my darling wife’?

You may print the photos, as for the details it really depends on what it is you’re looking for

Thanks Andrew. Just to clarify a few things

Like?

When did you wed her? And were you still married as at when she passed yesterday?

We wed in December 2005 and were very much married when she passed indeed I was talking to her on arrival in Lagos before the fateful event

I see you moved back to England. Do you have another family?

I work in Malaysia, we have a private home in UK, I do not have a second family

Also did you have kids together?

No kids, we were planning this year

There had been speculation for many years that she was married to an ‘oyinbo’ man. But no one could lay hands on anything. Why did you keep it a ‘secret’?

Our private life is nothing to do with work life, there has to be a balance

How did you hear of her death? I found out you last saw her in December?

I was talking to her on arrival in Lagos before the fateful event

How did you meet her? She must have been very young…

I met her at a friend’s leaving party and fell in love straight away, but had to work hard to persuade her I was genuine

So you will be planning to come here for burial rites…

Yes I have applied for visa and shall come next week

But how did you manage the Prezzo drama?

Prezzo was part of BBA game, just like in the movies, there was nothing to fear

But funny it dragged way beyond BBA

It dragged because the media dragged it, other wise it would have died naturally. Prezzo will say anything to get attention

Do you think he fell in love? And did you ever think Susan liked him for a minute…?

People fall in love and it’s not impossible to love more than one person, but there are different levels. She liked him initially, but began to despise him and distanced herself as he tried to use her she complained he was very manipulative

How did you come about your alias ‘Oyibopeppay?

Oyiiibopeppay is a name used in the villages for white man getting burned in the sun. I used to work in the bush erecting BTS for MTN and Glo

You have direct access to her password? The memories album was posted on her twitter. Or you requested for an admin to post?

I am an official admin. I don’t need any password but my own. It was authorised by Goldie

One last question: so much speculation on cause of death. I see from your facebook timeline that you’ve followed the reports. Have the doctors/family/label told you what the cause of death is?

An autopsy is being carried out and we will await results. The rest is speculation and hearsay

And did she have any medical condition?

She had no medical condition,

Is it true she was in India recently?

She was in Malaysia, we spent Christmas together away from prying eyes

What will you miss most about her?

Everything, she was the most beautiful person I ever met, no moment was wasted. Sweet, intelligent, sexy and a magnificent cook!!!!

And she was a determined young lady…

Very. That’s what I liked about her

Are you originally from England? Was she officially a citizen of your country by marriage? Or that was not concluded?

I’m from England and was processing Nigerian citizenship before I was transferred to Malaysia. Of course she was citizen of UK before we met, she lived and schooled there

She was indeed a star, as I’m sure you’ve seen from the tributes coming from far and near. Even the BBC and Billboard recognise her star

Yes we saw it on BBC news tonight. It is a devastating loss, but I support just as much wherever she has gone to.

May her soul rest in peace

Thank you.

2 Chainz Arrested On Possession Charges

'Locked me up and then Wanted pictures smh,' Chainz tweets about his photo op with arresting officers.

T.R.U.E story. On Thursday, "Extremely Blessed" rapper 2 chainz (born Tauheed Epps) was arrested for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia in Maryland and after being taken in he posed for pictures with the arresting officers. According to reports, the Grammy-nominated Chainz was busted around 10 p.m. in Easton, Maryland after Maryland State Police pulled over a white van he was traveling in with a half dozen other people. The Baltimore Sun reported that police found the rapper in possession of weed and he was the only person taken into custody.

A short time after the incident the MC tweeted, "UMES we on the way, dam police f---n wit a n---a, we fina turnUP," referring to a previously scheduled Thursday night homecoming show with Juicy J at University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

"Locked me up and then Wanted pictures smh," he followed, posting an instagram shot of him grinning along with two of Maryland's finest. The picture has since been liked by nearly 42,000 people and the Sun reported that a state police spokesperson said the incident is under review. Chainz later denied the possession charges, writing, "We to jail for a [weed] grinder??? REALLY???"

He recovered pretty quickly, posting another shot on Instagram a few hours later in which he was pictured rocking the stage at UMES. "I work hard and pray even harder, we gone always be good ya'll," he told his fans. "Not to mention my security said it was his and they said, 'he don't smoke,' how da fuk u know?" All was well by early Friday morning (February 15), though, as Chainz posted a lovely sunrise picture of a plane with the message, "I'm outta here."

Singer Goldie Harvey is dead

I honestly can not believe I am typing this now!
I’m in such shock, my jaw dropped when I saw this a few moments ago on Twitter. And I’m hoping it’s an awful hoax.

But it seems singer Goldie Harvey, who was an artiste on Kennis’ Music label and represented Nigeria at the Big Brother Star Game has died.

According to Linda Ikeji, she received a call from her best friend Denrele Edun, who told her Goldie died a few minutes ago in his arms at Reddington Hospital in Victoria Island.
In what can only be described as a tragic twist Goldie, who was at this weekens’ Grammy awards just returned from the US today and something went horribly wrong. She passed away about an hour ago at Reddington Hospital VI.

This is the worst news ever! My heart goes out to Goldie’s family and all those who loved her. I can not believe this. It is so tragic. Goldie was 28 years old, she had a few projects in the works including a reality TV show with best friend Denrele Edu
Rest In Peace…Goldie, RIP…The worst news…The absolute worst

Coffe and its benefits

coffee beans

Coffee may taste good and get you going in the morning, but what will it do for your health?
A growing body of research shows that coffee drinkers, compared to nondrinkers, are:
  • less likely to have type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and dementia
  • have fewer cases of certain cancers, heart rhythm problems, and strokes

“There is certainly much more good news than bad news, in terms of coffee and health,” says Frank Hu, MD, MPH, PhD, nutrition and epidemiology professor at the Harvard School of Public Health.

But (you knew there would be a “but,” didn’t you?) coffee isn't proven to prevent those conditions.
Researchers don't ask people to drink or skip coffee for the sake of science. Instead, they ask them about their coffee habits. Those studies can't show cause and effect. It's possible that coffee drinkers have other advantages, such as better diets, more exercise, or protective genes.

So there isn't solid proof. But there are signs of potential health perks -- and a few cautions.
If you're like the average American, who downed 416 8-ounce cups of coffee in 2009 (by the World Resources Institute's estimates), you might want to know what all that java is doing for you, or to you.
Here is a condition-by-condition look at the research.

Type 2 Diabetes

Hu calls the data on coffee and type 2 diabetes "pretty solid," based on more than 15 published studies.
"The vast majority of those studies have shown a benefit of coffee on the prevention of diabetes. And now there is also evidence that decaffeinated coffee may have the same benefit as regular coffee,” Hu tells WebMD.

In 2005, Hu's team reviewed nine studies on coffee and type 2 diabetes. Of more than 193,000 people, those who said they drank more than six or seven cups daily were 35% less likely to have type 2 diabetes than people who drank fewer than two cups daily. There was a smaller perk -- a 28% lower risk -- for people who drank 4-6 cups a day. The findings held regardless of sex, weight, or geographic location (U.S. or Europe).

More recently, Australian researchers looked at 18 studies of nearly 458,000 people. They found a 7% drop in the odds of having type 2 diabetes for every additional cup of coffee drunk daily. There were similar risk reductions for decaf coffee drinkers and tea drinkers. But the researchers cautioned that data from some of the smaller studies they reviewed may be less reliable. So it's possible that they overestimated the strength of the link between heavy coffee drinking and diabetes.

How might coffee keep diabetes at bay?

“It’s the whole package,” Hu says. He points to antioxidants -- nutrients that help prevent tissue damage caused by molecules called oxygen-free radicals. “We know that coffee has a very strong antioxidant capacity," Hu says.

Coffee also contains minerals such as magnesium and chromium, which help the body use the hormone insulin, which controls blood sugar (glucose). In type 2 diabetes, the body loses its ability to use insulin and regulate blood sugar effectively.

It's probably not the caffeine, though. Based on studies of decaf coffee, “I think we can safely say that the benefits are not likely to be due to caffeine," Hu says.

More problems for D’Prince…

The Mavin rapper didn’t think his ‘Take Banana’ song would cause so much furore when he was recording it with elder brother Don Jazzy. Investigations reveal that a few weeks before the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission placed a ban on the popular video, popular video sharing site, YouTube had yanked the video off their platform.

According to YouTube,Take Banana was removed ‘because its content violated YouTube’s Terms of Service’.

YouTube has strict policies on materials that have to do with nudity, vulgarism and other content. They did not respond to NET enquiries asking exactly why ‘Take Banana’ was yanked off…

53 Xtra’s Eku Edewor opens up : ‘I’m in love with a confident, independent and supportive Nigerian man’

Eku Edewor. Photo: Africa Magic

53 Xtra’s Eku Edewor proved to be a lot more than you’d imagine when we met her for an interview.

For 54 minutes, Eku, 26,  excitedly chats about the happy and low moments that have made her three-year-stay in the Nigerian entertainment scene and her plans for her career and her man.
Share with us some exciting memories while growing up in Nigeria

I have always had a very vibrant imagination and because of the much fun I had growing up, I like to describe my childhood as something out of the Famous Five. I lived next door to my cousins in Apapa and we got caught up in so many adventures. We built boats for the rainy season. We chased the nanny away because we thought she wasn’t nice enough. School was fun too, the theatrical activities and a few other things. I remember performing at the National theatre once in a professional play and the country’s first lady was present. That and many more make memories of my growing up and I cherish every bit of it.

What challenges did you face in your new environment?

Before we travelled, my twin sister and I had always been lovers of adventure. We just saw that as another adventure. I wasn’t really the shy type so it was easy for me to relate and I had my sister who I was always with. Again, the school we attended made it very easy for me. There were allowances for me to explore my creativity and develop my love and sports and meeting other international students made it more fun.

You only spent months before becoming 53 Xtra’s co-host. If you had not been picked you, what would you have gone into?

I will still be in entertainment. Studio 53 was a very good opportunity, though but I am a very determined person. I would have probably done more with my own production outfit and probably something and sold to MNET. I would have focused on film because that is what I have always wanted to do. I never planned to go into TV presenting but when it happened, I took it with smiles.

What has the experience being like since you started three years ago?

I am loving it now, having being on it for about three years now. The first few months was a learning experience for me. Initially, I did every red carpet show then and that came with a lot of stress. Coming to terms with celebrities and knowing their names was another stress. I remember an event (Africa Film Festival) in Port Harcourt where I had gone to co-host with IK Osakioduwa. I was on the red carpet and as usual, I had a spotter but when Segun Arinze came up, the whole place had become hectic. I recognised him but didn’t know his name. My spotter told me he was a guest and I believed, so I asked him (Segun Arinze) if he likes films. I knew from his response something was wrong, so I tried to find my way out of the situation and later apologised.

What efforts are you making to forestall such occurrences?

I have become quite familiar with most of them and I know their names and faces too.

Share with us qualities you think are expected of a good TV host…

It boils down to personalities and this is applicable to every art field. In the area of research, you can hire people to do that but presenting requires a relatable personality. Moreso, people observe you and can tell if you are fake. Not everybody is fun and classy. Some people are Oprah (Winfrey), some people are Ellen (De Generes) but one thing is they are both free and happy to make mistakes.

Why do you think you were evicted from the Britain’s Next Top Model?

I did want to win but reality TV competitions are not as straight forward as it seems especially when that show was in Season 2 but it was good that I was evicted because I was in the University at that time and I didn’t ask for permission to be away. They assumed I was sick but when I came back, I had only three weeks to write my final exams. I had to cram though but I passed, which is why I am still grateful I was evicted the time I was, who knows if I hadn’t, perhaps I may have spent an extra year.

Why did you not continue your modelling in Nigeria?

I have always loved modelling as a child and I grew up with a deep respect for my mom’s love for fashion and other successful fashion icons and models. This was why I thought it was a profession to aspire to but as I grew older, I found out it wasn’t as dynamic and dramatic as I thought it was. I heard some experiences of some models and I had to reconsider my choice. The entertainment industry hasn’t caught up yet with the international standard let alone the modelling and models here don’t get as much respect as they should, so while I was completing my studies in the University, I knew Theatre and Film was what I wanted to do.

With your experience on Britain’s Next Top Model and your gig with Arise Magazine Fashion Week, how will you rate Nigerian modelling and fashion industry?

The fashion industry is composed of different components, the designers, the models, the retail stores and so on. In other countries the process is well defined, the designs are taken to the departmental stores where buyers get them and some use other strategies, which is where the models come in. We have a lot of these things missing. We lack adequate departmental stores or retail outlets and investment to support the industry. When all of these are put in order, fashion can begin to make a lot of money for both designers and models but right now, it isn’t that way, but very soon, we hope it gets better.

Of all the Nigerian made dresses you’ve worn, which is your favourite?

The one that I always remember wearing was Bridget Awosika’s dress. A lime green gown, I wore it with a pair of red shoes and lipstick on the day of the 53 Xtra press announcement in 2010 and that for me, was very memorable. because it was my coming out into Nigerian entertainment. It was also my mom’s birthday and everything just clicked which is why the dress remains memorable. I love every piece I have worn designed by Nigerian designers and it’s a good feeling to wear all of them.

Why haven’t you been as active in the Nigerian movie sector despite your knowledge of the field?

While abroad, I worked with a film production team for two years. I worked in different capacities including a producer’s assistant where I was exposed to a lot of scripts and how even low budget films are made. I am very critical when I am picking what films to feature in. Nollywood now has a very strong record and the next thing is taking it closer to meeting those expectations we have of it. I do not disregard the efforts of home video makers, the UK and US also have such low budget films, not-cinema-worthy films and these products have their market. The same thing is obtainable in Nigeria but that is not where my interest lies. I want to be a part of cinema film and very well produced movies, so when I get scripts, I put this in mind.
What do you think is missing in Nollywood?

I do not think anything is missing I just think a lot of people need to value it. We have great stories and great writers and all that’s left is for people to believe in our art, stories and invest in it.

Most actors have fantasy characters, what is yours?

I want to play all Vivian Leigh’s character. I liked her character in Gone With The Wind. I want to play someone (a female) who is difficult and brave. I want to play lead female in epic movies. I want to play strong female roles like Angelina Jolie. There isn’t a particular role that I think I want to play but I know that I will like to play lead female in epic movies.

Angelina Jolie, we know to be very fearless. Do you see yourself in that light?

I want to be as fearless as Angelina Jolie but I am not going to play any of the sexual roles she did but I want to play strong characters. I do not want to be afraid because acting comes with fears. I get scared at times and I want to break through all my limitations and play roles like I should play them.

You are an OAP, actor, model and producer. How do you manage to juggle it all together?

I don’t really juggle. I like to do focus on one thing at a time and that has been instrumental to my success. I am never two things at one time. I dedicated two years to being a TV presenter before I moved on to something else. I have always believed it’s not good to be a jack of all trade but I support having many trades and being a master of each.

Which do you love the most?

I never knew I would love presenting as much as I do but acting really fulfils something in me. If it (acting) paid all my bills, I may find myself being dragged away but now, I still love presenting.

Why hasn’t Eku gotten married?

I love the idea of marriage and I want to settle down before I am 30. I promised my mum that but I do not feel age matters so much though.

I want to have a family and have kids and be a proper wife but I am not going to let it stop me from what I ought to achieve and I want to find someone that will let me achieve all I want to and I’m glad I’m with someone and he believes in me a lot.

Tell us about him.

He does not like being talked about. I’ve chosen my career and its not his choice to be in the public eye. At some point he will have to but not now

 Is he Nigerian?

Yes, he is.

Dark Skinned?

Caramel

What attracted you to him?

His confidence, independent mind and the support he has for me and what I do. There are some people who cannot handle their partners being in the public eye. For some reason, they think they are going to stray, but that happens in offices too. It happens everywhere

Share with us some of your beauty regimen

I have freckles so I stay out of the sun as much as I can. I wear sun factors too and I’m obsessed with keeping pimples away. I see a cosmetologist once anything unusual happens.

To what will you attribute your success?

I will say 53 Xtra was a good platform but people got to know me quickly in person. Again, my fashion choices brought me to the attention of newspapers, columns and blogs. Fashion has such a huge impact on the society and its fascinating. I think the constant celebration of my difference too. I am not the average Nigerian dresser, may be being the odd one out has been too.

What is the big picture for Eku?

The big picture is that I want to be very respected in this industry, so much that America will come knocking and I want the same for African talents. I think our old stars have put a lot in place and I think it is time for our generation to take it further.

I want a case where Africans play the roles of Africans and not African Americans. I want the same for Nigerians and Africans living abroad. I feel like music has done that and it’s time for movies and drama to do same.

What are you up to at the moment?

I’m looking for film. If I can’t find anyone, I may have to produce one myself.

Best New Mascara: Benefit "They're Real!"

 http://0.tqn.com/d/beauty/1/0/u/a/1/benefit-they-re-real-mascara.jpg
When a woman loves her mascara, you can't part her from it. Take me in Sephora the other day. I was picking up my favorite Lancome Hypnose mascara (it's on this list) and one of the makeup artists was just dying to have me try a new mascara that promised to make my lashes grow from herbal ingredients.

Yeah right. No thank you. I love my Hypnose, thanks. So when I started hearing (and reading and hearing) about Benefit's "They're Real!" mascara (love the name), I had to check it out and it turns out it's the coolest new mascara around, which is why it made this list. It's absolutely beloved by beauty aficionados.

Tenacity: if you don't have it, online dating isn't for you. Though match-making websites may seem like a quick alternative to meeting your one true love at a bar, perusing pages of potential dates calls for some dedication. And if you have a deep appreciation for spreadsheets, that helps, too.
Armed with charts, lists and formulas, Amy Webb used what she knew best to outsmart the online dating algorithms: math. Repeated failures at meeting her match spurred the digital strategy expert to crack the code, leading straight to her future husband.

Webb, CEO of WebbMedia Group, spent a month crunching numbers and analyzing key words to optimize her JDate profile. She chronicles her journey in her new book, Data, A Love Story. The concept of math and technology bringing people together first attracted her to online dating sites, but she quickly realized it wasn't going to work.

"I'm pretty open about being not religious," Webb tells . "A few of these sites kept trying to match me up with Orthodox Jewish rabbis, which could not have been further away ... I looked at the data and realized it was really going to be impossible for an algorithm to match me with somebody."
Her initial matches were so bad, she took to sending mid-date email updates to family and friends while hiding from her suitors in the bar's bathroom. There was the guy who smoked a huge joint after dinner, the one who gave continuous high-fives, and of course, the married one.

For those who've had their fair share of awful matchmaker dates, the cliché "It's not you, it's me" actually rings true. It's your own doing, Webb says. The information in these sites' databases are user generated, and most people don't have the ability to be 100% effective. Bad data goes into the algorithm, so bad data goes out, leaving you mismatched.

Many people will pour hours into perfecting their résumé, but won't invest the same amount of time into their digital presence. The commitment to your profile is necessary, says Webb.
